V I S I O N

The Greater Pittsboro Community Development Corporation (GPCDC) fosters vibrant, diverse, and economically resilient communities. The GPCDC’s programs are broad-based and unite vulnerable communities, local businesses, municipal, county, state, and federal entities as well as non-profit and private leadership to raise capital, invest in local and regional economies and create scalable programs. Our activities are devoted to creating the model for sustainability based on the four pillars of:

economic growth,
environmental responsibility,
social innovation, and
cultural inclusion

We have identified stakehlders in each of the areas located within our community and in neighboring communities within the State. Through strategic partnerships with these individuals and agencies, we promote collaboration in funding opportunities that will further the establishment of a center for sustainable development.

Our activities include:

Creating collaborative and strategic partnerships
Providing grant funding and grant management services to our strategic and collaborative partners;
Providing training and education on energy efficiency, workforce development, green jobs, and low or no-cost resources and services to community residents who may otherwise be excluded from opportunities;
Creating awareness of the need for workforce development and training for green jobs among Chatham County government services, educational institutions and private businesses;
Providing funding opportunities for research and piloting of new and innovative ideas and technologies to support America’s plan to reduce dependency on fossil fuels and increase alternative fuel feed stocks;
Providing funding to preserve the rich cultural heritage of long-time residents of Chatham County and their history of accomplishments; and
Creating an organizational unit to bring together the diverse residents of Chatham County as a cohesive unit.
